The Full Moon- Eternal Love I

Chapter One– By Chance or Fortune

“Obviously, she is a new comer, I have not seen her before”

The streetlights and the lights from the buildings start to glow as the wall clock ticks slowly with the passage of time. The people start roaming in and around the shops, visiting one after another as if they have countless stuffs to buy but only to come out empty handed. Walking in the town especially after dusk has become like a modern culture in all walks of life, whether they have something to buy or not, they walks in and out of every shop in rows. In the infra-redness of streetlights, they are the beautiful silhouettes in full motions.

Unlocking the balcony door, he pulls himself out to lean on the metallic bars. He gazes the clear sky where only a few stars could be seen. The night is going to be the brightest one as he can see the stars appearing randomly in the air. The only charm in staying in the topmost floor is to enjoy the refreshing breeze while capturing the exquisite beauty of moving silhouettes. He sees a football match going on in the Public ground unlike other times which usually happens in the late afternoons. “Wow! What a night view of our ground, Tonight”, he feels in his heart.

“Ledra”, his wife Selzang calls him on top of her voice. “Cheychey and Bubu are here now, Let’s have our dinner, come on!” They have been waiting for their two children. Chechey is in grade XII and she comes late after class as she has to attend her mathematics extra class. Mongar Autonomous school has been striving hard for the perfection of students since it’s establishment in 1959. Baby is busy every Wednesday as he has to take control of the Taekwondo club as a senior member, having won 7 medals until now.

Glancing over the busy town for the last time, he pushes the door. “I am coming. How was your day?”, he asks looking at two sweet darlings who are already sitting on one side of the dinning table. Dinner is considered special in most of the families for they get chance to sit together and share the moments of the day. “It was beautiful”, they responded in unison as is the habit they have developed over the last few years in Mongar. “I hope you don’t want to know about mine”, Selzang teasingly smiled as she fills the plates with the yummy green spinach and grilled chicken dump sticks.

UFC-the ultimate Fighter Championship- is displayed in the Dining room TV, it being Bubu’s favorite channel. He rules the dining room every day. They dine heavily while praising their master chef for the delicious supper tonight. It’s the family culture to praise and respect Selzang as a wife and the mother of two.

Smile on her face buds happiness in Ledra’s heart the most and the children as well. Credit goes to Selzang for fifteen years of a harmonious marriage life. Had she not been by his side, his life would not have been better. He is grateful that she accepted his proposal twenty years ago when they were just like Chechey.

It was February 2010 and Ledra’s second year in Gyelposhing Higher secondary school. Having finished the admission process for the year, he was sitting in the class thinking about how the year would go. No sooner had he glanced through the window than he saw a young winsome lady with long hair, no taller than himself. “Obviously, she is the new comer. I have not seen her before”, he thought. He just convinced himself that she is beautiful, that’s all. No romantic emotions, he believed girl-boy relationship destroy the academic reputation. By chance or fortune, the girl was in same collaboration group(CG), KHORLO. Tashi Tagye used to be the group designation. While the academic activities were in full swing, cultural programs were never ignored. The young winsome lady was unexpectedly his Boedra dance partner. Her dance was wonderful as she gently moved her limbs in unison. Somewhere in his brain, he felt unique about her. His beating heart somehow agreed too.

Ledra’s iPhone beeps, “I used to believe…we were burning on the edge of something beautiful”. Selzang gets up quickly to pick up the ringing phone on in the sitting room. “Wangpo is calling”, it reads.

“It’s from Wangpo”, she shouted directing her voice to the dining room where her darlings are still mesmerized by the UFC program.

“Can you receive it and ask him if I can be of any help?”

“Hello”, she answered the call.

“Oh! My God, is she pathetic?”, hearing something she shouts back astonished. Knowing that it’s odd, Ledra rushes to the sitting room to know what it really is.
