Being a part of school life is awesome and it’s an episode of life in which we all had everything we wanted. We can actually do everything that is to be done as a teenager and the young adults. We all have freedom and the most amazing things we do, as far as I am concerned, is to enjoy even a second of free time and forget about the study. We all are deeply into such crazy circumstances but we are really having our ice creams of freedom under the scorching sun rays of difficulties.

Gradually we all move to our own colleges; a time of departure for many close friends and probably the worst and permanent separation from high school friends whether we like it or not. Under the light of transition from high school to colleges, thousands of us grow each day and finally a day comes for another nightmare of separation, however, it’s neither sad nor happy as of what I know. It’s a stage of apprehension and worrisome. Despite this fact, we are much more relieved than we could imagine. This marks the end of an episode named ‘crazy and innocence’.

Another huge transition; a new episode of which starts with a grand celebration for the success we have attained. They call it a convocation and I call it ‘the welcome gate of responsibilities’. This gate opens for all at once and to our surprise, it closes sooner or later without any signs: not even a gentle touch. Fortunate ones reach the other side and the less fortunate ones cannot pass through this gate easily. Afterward, responsibilities jump in for those who entered the gate and a period of tasteless meal and restless night come for those who couldn’t make through it.

Hey guys, I am here not to scare you. Let’s just talk about that gate day I have mentioned above.

Tashi Dendup and Bikash Rai; General Nursing and Midwives(GNM), now working in Tsirang Dzongkhag
Recently my friends have graduated from different colleges under Royal University of Bhutan. They attained 14th convocation held at Royal Institute of Management(RIM), Thimphu Bhutan.

I am sure they had a heavenly feelings as they stared to wear the gowns. I imagined being one of them and I could feel the greatest joy as I walk along with thousands of other people around. I find myself very innocent but with the gown on my body, I feel a unique sense of responsibility towards the country. During this short period of time, my mind walks towards many directions.

Office at 9:00 o’clock! Full responsibility? Boss? The seniors? Assignments again! What about family? Marry, when? Should I have to settle soon? Will I be happy in the job? When will I get experienced in this field?; and so many thoughts but the power of gown that talks all about my knowledge held down all those weak emotions and I started talking to myself,”I have right to do, I have responsibility to hold; and I can do it”. That’s all about what I imagined myself to be there with my friends as one of the graduates.

Let me talk from here now, as a student who pursues his goal with every dawn to dusk. As I saw my friends posting their photos of joy in the gown; in messenger stories, in Instagram, in Facebook, in Wechat and so on., I could not believe that I am still sitting here on the chair and trying to understand the facts while my friends have attained one great achievement in life ready to take step onto a new episode of life. At the same time, I was really glad seeing my friends in their broad smiles in that significant dress of their life; the welcome gate of responsibilities.

I heard the songs of tranquility amidst the whistling air in my ears; at night I saw the stars of hope twinkling to the rhythm of my feelings as I gaze up and when I slept at late night, I dreamt of countless responsibility holders in their dawn of excitement.

Rinchen Thinley and Leki Tenzin, proud brothers from Kengkhar Gewog, Mongar.
Next day when the first rays of golden eyes hit my face, I started wishing all the people in gown one by one through messages(congratulations! All the best in your life ahead). Satisfaction danced in my heart with the tune of their joy and laughter that I can see in their photos.

Dear Friends
Whatever you do in life after entering this ‘welcome gate of responsibilities’, use all the knowledge you have gained until now and come out with new lights wherever needed. I would be happy to hear your success as you walk your journey but if I hear/see you all wasting your acquired knowledge, I would not be that keen to listen to your story about how it happened.
I know that getting employed in government offices is really a hard nut to crack; if you have made it, I am already happy about it but if not, I don’t want you all to stop there, be a productive citizen by implementing all your knowledge into action.
Yours faithfully

This is my words for you, friends. 14th convocation of Royal University of Bhutan 🇧🇹 held at Royal Institute of Management(RIM), Thimphu Bhutan was such a colorfully beautiful day for all my friends and their families. I am pretty sure that a part of this world has cheered for you all. It’s a golden day not only for you but also for the country itself. Bhutan has made a swift move towards the modern education level and we are all the product of it.

I personally feel that we have to prove ourselves the best and never let the country’s education down. I was as good as never born(of course I was born) in first 13 convocation since I had no idea of it that much and even if I saw such related things I wasn’t bothered but this time, you all really given me a chance to think deeper into myself and discovered the essence of being qualified one day.

Congratulations, once again to all my friends.
All the best in your life ahead.
